SAWMILL
In addition to its timber trading business, Berti Silvano S.r.l. purchases logs, which are then sawn into lumber of various thicknesses and boules. It also offers the service of sawing the logs according to the customer’s specifications.
DRYING AND STEAMING
The sawn lumber is first air-dried and then kiln-dried according to the customer’s needs . For some timber species, steaming is required and performed to ensure the lumber has a uniform colour
STORAGE
The lumber is stacked in layers on sticks and kept under shelters to ensure ventilation and thus optimal drying of the lumber. Depending on the requirements of the species, sometimes the lumber may be stored indoors.
